NEWARK: A funeral service for Mabel B. Flanagan will be held 9:00 A.M. Wednesday, May 2, 2012 at Brucker-Kishler Funeral Home, 985 N. 21st Street, Newark, with Pastor Mark Ledbetter presiding. Interment will follow at Hanover Cemetery. The family will receive friends and relatives Tuesday from 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home.
Mrs. Flanagan, age 89, passed away on Sunday, April 29, 2012 at her home with her family by her side. She was born March 25, 1923 in Dry Creek, (Brooke Co.) West Virginia to her late parents Dayton and Edith (Street) Mowery. She was a 1985 retiree from Owens Corning where she had been employed as a group leader. She loved to make quilts and enjoyed spending time with her family and giving love. She was a devoted mother, a loving grandmother and sister.
Mabel is survived by her son Raymond (Leann) Flanagan of Newark; daughters Jane (Timothy) Steiner of Gahanna, Brenda "Sue" Mael of Newark, Linda (Larry) Schofield of Newark, Sharon Miller of Newark and Kelly Vingle of Gahanna; 15 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren; brothers Orville Mowery, Tom Mowery and Delbert Mowery all of West Virginia; sisters Viola Shreve and Nancy also of West Virginia as well as many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, husband Omer "Dewey" Flanagan; sons Sammie and Oliver Flanagan; brother Dayton "Trig" Mowery and sister Thelma preceded Mabel in death.
