SPANISH FORT: AL: A graveside service for Muriel Dilley Cherney of Spanish Fort, Alabama, formerly of Granville, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, October 30, 2010 at Maple Grove Cemetery in Granville with the Rev. Stephen H. Applegate officiating.
Mrs. Cherney died August 1, 2010 at Westminster Village in Spanish Fort, AL. She was born April 2, 1912 in China to Dr. Frederick and Grace Dilley, who were missionaries.
Muriel earned a Master's Degree from Case Western Reserve University in Social Work. She devoted her lifetime of work to psychiatric social work and adoption work.
Surviving are her children, Christopher Cherney and his wife Susannah, Penny Painter and her husband James Harry Painter the III, Julia Grace, and Alain Cherney; five grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Cherney was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Russell Cherney, who died July 22, 2006; two brothers and one sister.
