Naomi E. Cody
NEWARK: A memorial service, to celebrate the life of Naomi E. Cody, 88, of Newark, will be held on Saturday, August 4, 2012 at 4:00 PM at her daughter's residence, 5639 Loudon Street Road, Johnstown.
Naomi was born in Newark, Ohio on December 29, 1923 to the late Friend and Cloey (Simon) Brown. She passed away at her son's residence on July 27, 2012, while surrounded by family.
Naomi was a devoted homemaker, raising her seven children. She was affiliated with Crossroads Worship Centre in Newark. She enjoyed gardening, cooking and was an excellent pie baker. She was known as "Grandma Cody, the cookie maker" to the neighborhood children in Johnstown, baking and providing cookies to the children every Tuesday. She enjoyed crocheting, making hundreds of afghans for family and friends. She won a blue ribbon at the Hartford Fair for her excellent crocheting skills. Most important in her life was spending time with all of her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
Survivors include her children, Connie (Paul) Swickard, Mike, (Lori) Cody, Bob Cody, Cathy Busch, Bill Cody and Rick (Lorraine) Cody; 21 grandchildren; 39 great grandchildren; seven great great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by one son, John Cody and six brothers and sisters.
