Phyllis Taylor Phyllis (Philipps) (Philipps) Taylor Obituary

Phyllis (Philipps) Taylor GRANVILLE: Phyllis (Philipps) Taylor passed away peacefully in Tacoma, WA on June 28, 2012 at the age of 84.

She was born in the Welsh Hills of Granville on the family farm. She graduated from Granville High School in 1946. Phyllis enlisted in the Women's Army Corp in 1948 and was stationed in Virginia, New York, and Camp Yokahama, Japan where she met Tillman "Shorty" Taylor, whom she married in October of 1952 while both were stationed there.

After serving four years in the military she subsequently became a devoted military wife. Tillman was assigned to Ft. Lewis, WA in 1957 and that same year Phyllis began her second career as a Civil Servant with the U.S. Air Force working at the McChord AFB Passenger Terminal for most of her 29 years of service.

Phyllis was very involved with the activities of her family, serving as PTA Treasurer, and as a Camp Fire Girl Leader. Phyllis was past President of the WAC Evergreen Chapter 63 and was a member of Mt Tahoma Baptist Church.

We will remember her for her strong work ethic, her enjoyment of the outdoors, her independent spirit, her generosity and the unconditional loving support she always gave us.

Today she is in heaven, reuniting with her Parents, Phillip and Bertha Philipps; Sister, Pearl Casey; and Son-in-Law, Tim McDonough.

Phyllis is survived by her Husband of 59-½ years, Tillman; Daughters, Barbara McDonough and Andrea Balzarini (Don); Grandchildren, Tim McDonough and Hannah Shea; Great Grandson, Riley McDonough; and Brothers, Phil "Bucky", Sam and Robert Philipps.

A memorial service is planned for July 28, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at Mt. Tahoma Baptist Church, Lakewood WA.
