Richard E. Gardner
MAUMEE: Richard Gardner, age 78, of Maumee, passed away on August 1, 2012 in his home.
Richard was born in Newark, Ohio on May 12, 1934 to Harry & Ruth (Stickle) Gardner. A Korean War Navy Veteran, Richard was head of the litigation department for Owens Corning Fiberglass retiring in 1990. He enjoyed golfing, watching Star Trek with his grandson and following his granddaughter around the softball field. Richard also served as a Councilman for the town of Heath, Ohio from 90-92. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend he will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Surviving is his daughter, April Gardner; grandchildren, Jordan & Sarah Philippi; sister, Betty May McCann; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Jean; parents, Harry & Ruth Gardner; brothers, Robert & Donald Gardner; and sister, Annabel Williams.
Visitation for Richard was held on Sunday, August 5, 2012 and graveside services will be held on Monday, August 6, 2012 with full Military Honors, at Barnes Cemetery, Newark, Ohio.
