NEWARK: Funeral services for Robert "Bob" E. Hickman will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday, December 23, 2013 at Brucker-Kishler Funeral Home, 985 N. 21st Street, Newark with Pastor Roger Conley presiding. Interment will follow at Spring Grove Cemetery where military honors will be rendered by the Licking County Veterans Alliance. The family will receive friends and relatives Sunday 2-5 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Hickman, age 87, of Newark passed away on Thursday, December 19, 2013 at his home. He was born December 10, 1926 in Newark the son of Raymond and Margaret (Barrett) Hickman. Bob and his late wife Frances were co-owners of Hickman Sales. Hickman Sales offered RV sales and service as well as auto repair. He served with the U.S. Navy during WWII. He was a member of Acme Lodge #554 F&AM and was a 32nd Degree Mason. He served as a Trustee for Spring Grove Cemetery, a member of Madison Grange and was a co-founder of The Wagoneers Camping Club. He is remembered by his family as someone who believed that a day started in the early morning. He was a family man who cared about the well being of all and he enjoyed working around his property.

Bob is survived by daughter Marian Simross of Newark, son Joseph (Karen) Hickman of Granville and daughter Rebecca McCoy of Newark; grandchildren Kurt (Danielle) Simross, Emily Hickman, Erin (Wayne) Brantley, Sarah Simross, Katherine Hickman, Kaley (Justin) Wohlford, Natalie Hickman and Elizabeth Hickman; great grandson Lane Wohlford; brother Harold (Veronica) Hickman as well as many nieces and nephews and his canine buddy "Sweetheart."

In addition to his parents, wife Frances (Mason) Hickman (1985), sister June Scott and son-in-law Terry Simross preceded Bob in death.

The family offers their thanks to Hospice of Licking County and Home Instead Senior Care for their compassion and caring ways.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Spring Grove Cemetery or Hospice of Licking County are appreciated.
