Robert J. "Bob" Miller

NEWARK: A funeral service celebrating the life of Robert J. "Bob" Miller, 66 of Newark will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 7, 2012 in the Newark Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home with Pastor Patricia Battle officiating. Burial will follow in Holy Trinity Catholic Cemetery, Somerset.

Bob passed away Saturday, June 30, 2012 at his home. He was born September 15, 1945 in Savannah, Georgia to the late Robert V. Miller and Betty (Koehler) Miller of Somerset. He was a graduate of Sheridan High School and The Ohio State University. He had attended Ohio University as well. Bob was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He retired from the Ohio Department of Transportation, where he worked for 30 years as a Civil Engineer. He had recently worked for the Licking County Aging Program with Meals on Wheels. He enjoyed sports and outdoor activities, especially baseball. Bob loved Dawes Arboretum, working and visiting with the folks at Zerger Hall, and spending time with his family. He will be remembered for his tender heart, warm smile, and generosity of spirit. He always wanted the best for everyone!

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife Nancy (Hite) Miller of Pleasantville; daughters, Nancy (Tim) Wood, Jenny (Brian) Shippen; grandchildren, Drew Miller and Mason Shippen, all of Newark; brothers Richard (Susan) Miller of Somerset, David Miller of Somerset, Martin Miller of Mt. Perry; sisters, Ann (Dan) Klingler of Somerset; Sue (Ray) Longendyke of Roseville, Janet (Mark) Stout of Lancaster, Mary Campbell of Somerset, Judy (Tim) Hayes of Caldwell; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Friends and family may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, July 6, 2012 at VENSIL & CHUTE FUNERAL HOME, 1850 W. Main Street, Newark.

Memorial contributions may be made to Dawes Arboretum or the Licking County Aging Program. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
