NEWARK: A Mass of Christian Burial for Thomas L. Lusk, 68, of Newark, will be held at the Church of the Blessed Sacrament, 10:30 A.M., Monday, July 9, 2012 with Fr. Jonathan Wilson officiating. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Newark.
Tom, a parishioner of the Church of the Blessed Sacrament, died at the Arlington Care Center on Thursday, July 5, 2012. He was born in Newark, Ohio on July 17, 1943 to the late Donald and Mary Magdalene (Ehlerman) Lusk.
Tom was a 1961 graduate of Newark Catholic High School, and then went on to graduate from St. Charles College. He studied theology at John Carroll University and earned his Masters in Education from Xavier University.
For the past 45 years, Tom has worked as teacher, principal, and primarily a guidance counselor at Newark Catholic High School serving over 4 thousand students. His devotion to Newark Catholic extended beyond the responsibility of his job, becoming a part of his life which he dearly cherished.
He is survived by his siblings and their spouses, Donna and Patrick Stasel, Donald Jr. and Frances Lusk, Michael and Beth Lusk, Richard and MaryBeth Lusk, David and Lindi Lusk; many nieces and nephews; close friend, Rick Southern; and the many students from Newark Catholic High School.
In addition to his parents, Tom was preceded in death by his nephew, Jeff Lusk.
Friends and family may call from 2-4 and 7-9 P. M., Sunday, July 8, 2012 at the REED-EGAN FUNERAL HOME, 141 Green Wave Drive, Newark, where a Vigil Service will be held at 8:30 P.M..
