NEWARK: The celebration and thanksgiving of the life of Vada I. Anco, age 96, of Newark, will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, January 12, at Trinity Episcopal Church, 76 East Main Street, Newark, with The Rev. J. Michael Jupin presiding. Burial will follow at Poplar Fork Cemetery in Gratiot.

Mrs. Anco passed away Friday, January 6, 2017 at The Inn at Chapel Grove. She was born October 20, 1920 in Brownsville, Ohio to the late Arthur F. and Edna (Bogle) Orr.

Mrs. Anco was a 1938 graduate of Glenford High School. She was very active with Newark City Schools serving as the PTA President for Cherry Valley, Wilson, McGuffy and Newark High School. Later, Mrs. Anco worked for Ohio State Grange Mutual Insurance and retired in 1987. She was involved with League of Women Voters, served on Central Committee for Licking County Democrat Party, volunteered with the Licking County Historical Society, Sherwood-Davidson House where she retired in 1995 and continued as a volunteer and served on the Board of Directors for Weathervane Playhouse.

Mrs. Anco was a parishioner of Trinity Episcopal Church where she was involved with the Episcopal Church Women's Club and the Altar Guild.

She is survived by three children, Daniel C. (Helen) Anco, Jr., of Scotland, Karen (Terry) Nelson of Newark and Rose (Steve) Peck of Newark; a grandson, Zachary Andrew Peck; two step-grandchildren, Brenda Nelson and Rick Nelson; a step-great-grandson, Quinten; a sister, Doris Marie Sears of Florida and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel C. Anco, Sr. and five siblings, Verla McComb, Neva Orr, Lawrence Orr, Charles Orr and Arthur Orr, Jr.

Family and friends may call two hours prior to the service at the church on Thursday, January 12, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
