NEWARK: A funeral service, to celebrate the life of Verda C. Ewing, 94, of Newark, will be held on Friday, July 20, 2012 at 10:00 AM at the Newark Baptist Temple, 81 Licking View Dr, Heath, with Pastor James Dennis officiating. Burial will follow at Olivet Cemetery in Perry County.
Mrs. Ewing was born in Middlebury, Indiana on May 24, 1918. She passed away at the Arlington Care Center on July 16, 2012. She was a member of the Newark Baptist Temple. She was a secretary at the Licking County Christian Academy and was a devoted homemaker. She enjoyed sewing, crafts, gardening, feeding the birds and squirrels and was a great cook. Mrs. Ewing was a caring, sincere person who was young at heart, knew no stranger and she loved everyone she met.
Survivors include her husband of 63 years, Robert M. Ewing, whom she married on August 22, 1948; daughter and son-in-law, Dora E. and Joseph Orr of Glenford; sons and daughter-in-law, Victor and Denise Ewing of Midwest City, Oklahoma and Tim Ewing of Heath; sister and brother-in-law, Olene and Bob Garber of Bristol, IN; grandchildren, Bethlee, Ben, Hannah, Rachel, Lisa, Daniel, Ruth and Peter; six great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by five brothers and sisters.
Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Mrs. Ewing to the Newark Baptist Temple or the Licking County Christian Academy. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
