Walter H. "Bud" Van Ostran

NEWARK: A gathering celebrating the life of Walter H. "Bud" Van Ostran, age 81, of Newark will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Friday, July 18, at the Newark Chapel of Henderson-Van Atta-Stickle Funeral and Cremation Service. Military honors will be provided at 7:00 p.m. by the Licking County Veterans Alliance.

Bud passed away Tuesday, July 15, 2014 at Autumn Health Care, with his loving family by his side. He was born March 17, 1933 in Newark to the late Robert and Estella Van Ostran.

Bud was a true family man who enjoyed the simple pleasures of life, especially spending time with his family and grandchildren. He was an excellent mechanic who loved working on all types of automobiles. He proudly represented his country by serving in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. Bud worked at Owens Corning for over 37 years, was a member of the Heath Eagles and enjoyed watching NASCAR and boxing matches.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Blanche E. (Conners) Van Ostran, whom he married on November 16, 1951; three sons, Joe L. (Audrey Feigenbaum) Van Ostran of Gahanna, Michael L. (Irene) Van Ostran of Alcala, Spain and Dave Fayerweather of St. Louisville; two daughters, Tammy T. Fayerweather of St. Louisville and Shalimar S. (Bob) Carlile of Goshen, Indiana; four grandchildren, Brent and Tashina Fayerweather, Kenzi and Celia Van Ostran; two great-granchildren, Xavier Brooks and Isaiah Keyse.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.
