Newark: A Memorial Service for William Edward Welch, 80, of Newark, will be held at 12:00 p.m. Tuesday at Brucker and Kishler Funeral Home, where Military Honors will be conducted by the Licking County Veterans Alliance. Inurnment will be held at a later date at Newark Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Welch retired from Kaiser. He passed away October 27, 2012, at Goosepond Retirement Village. He was born January 2, 1932, in New Lexington, Ohio, to the late Lawrence W. and Clara (Catchpole) Welch.
Mr. Welch was a Navy Veteran. He was a member of Central Christian Church, Hanover Masonic Order, Teheran Grotto, and lifetime member of the VFW.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Mary H. (Brewer) Welch, whom he married on October 11, 1953; children, Bill (Joyce) Welch of Lenexa, KS, Kim (C.R.) Riebesell of Utica and Terie (Todd) Iden of Pataskala; sister, Dorothy Ehlermann of Newark, and six grandchildren, Mike (Shannon) Welch, Brian (Lauren) Welch, Colton (Andrea) Riebesell, Cliff (Lisa) Riebesell, Jennifer Iden, and Amanda (Phil Williams) Iden, and seven great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Dottie (Welch) Tanner; brother, Sam Welch and one great-grandchild.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice of Central Ohio, or to the
Friends may call from 11 - 12 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, 985 N. 21st St. Newark, where a Masonic Service will take place at 11:45 a.m.
