LANCASTER: Zachary Winston Alley, 27, an Army SPC, of Ft. Benning, Georgia, passed away July 8, 2014 in Columbus, Georgia as a result of injuries from a motorcycle accident.

Zachary was born September 22, 1986 in Cherry Point, North Carolina. He graduated in 2004 from Winton Woods High School, Cincinnati, Ohio and joined the U.S. Army in August of 2004. He was assigned to the 4th Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division (Stryker Brigade Combat Team) stationed at Fort Lewis, Washington, at Ft. Benning he was assigned to APEX Platoon, Bravo Troop, 1st Squadron, 16th

Calvary Regiment. He received the Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Combat Action Badge, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Meritorious Unit Commendation, Army Good Conduct Medal and Iraqi Campaign Medal where he served two tours.

He is survived by his mother, Joyce (Kitchen) Alley-Plott; father, Jon Alley; step father, Daniel Plott; and step mother, Dawn (Flach) Alley; children: Anthony, Scarlett and Vincent, all of Ft. Lewis, WA.; brother, Sr. A. Jacob (Jane) Alley of U.S. Air Force, Hill Air Force Base, Utah; sisters, Emma and Grace Plott; step brother, Scott (Ashlee) Wickemeier; nephew, Cooper Alley; maternal grandmother, Carol Kitchen Fulks; paternal great grandmother, Mabel Hunt; step grandmother, Connie (Paul Ramsey) Plott; numerous aunts, uncles and many cousins; and his pet dogs: Ramsey, Hero and Loki.

He was preceded by paternal grandparents, David and Carol Alley; maternal grandfather, Ben Kitchen; paternal grandfather, Richard Plott; paternal grandparents, Gene and Lois Flach; maternal great grandparents, Homer and Bertha Daubenmire.

Friends may call 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm Friday, July 18, 2014 and 10:00 am to 11:30 am Saturday at First English Lutheran Church, 220 N. Columbus St. Lancaster, Ohio where services will be held at 12 noon Saturday with Pastor Brian Dillahunt officiating. Interment will follow at Floral Hills Memory Gardens with full Military Honors conducted.
