Gary M. Barr

NEWARK: A service celebrating the life of Gary M. Barr, age 60, of Newark, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 28, at the Licking Valley Church of Christ, 1578 Dayton Road NE, Newark, with Pastor Gus Andrews officiating. Burial will follow at Spring Grove Cemetery.

Mr. Barr passed away Saturday, March 24, 2012 at his residence. He was born October 16, 1951in Newark to the late Clyde E. and Jessie I. (Willard) Barr.

Gary was a member of the Licking Valley Church of Christ serving as an Elder and a true follower of Christ. He was a graduate of Licking Valley High School class of 1971. He was a very active in high school participating in FFA, which would continue after graduating with his dedication to Licking Valley Schools. Gary is the President of LV School Board and has served on the Board for 11 years and past President of the Athletic Boosters serving 11 years with 9 years as the President. He was a past member of the Madison Twp. Fire Dept. and 1st Squad Coordinator where he served as a Paramedic. He worked at R.R. Donnelly (formerly Communicolor) as a Customer Service Representative. Gary enjoyed coaching his daughter's Biddy League Basketball, Kiwanis girl's softball teams and enjoyed watching OSU Football, Basketball and the Browns. Gary also participated in the after school children's program on Wednesdays at Licking Valley Church of Christ. He also was a member of Masonic New Home lodge No. 338 Hanover.

He is survived by his wife of nearly 40 years, Robin J. (Denman); two daughters, Jennifer (Brad) Anders and Jessica L. (Matt) Roback all of Newark; five grandchildren, Mason and Brooklyn Anders, Laynie, Myla and Tegan Roback; a brother, Richard (Betty) Barr; a sister, Janet (Gene) Gregory; a sister-in-law, Connie Barr; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Gene Barr.

Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, March 27,at the Licking Valley Church of Christ.

The Newark Chapel of Henderson-Van Atta-Stickle Funeral and Cremation Service, 59 N. Fifth Street is assisting the family with arrangements.
