Wilma G. Massaro Obituary
Wilma G. Massaro

NEWARK: A Funeral Mass for Wilma G. Massaro, 91, of Newark, will be held at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 10:30 A.M., Tuesday, February 25, 2014, with Rev. JCP Sullivan, Parish Priest as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Newark.

Wilma died at Licking Memorial Hospital on Thursday, February 20, 2014. She was born in Newark, Ohio on June 29, 1922 to the late Clyde and Mary (Sullivan) Priest.

Wilma was a graduate of St. Francis de Sales High School and a lifelong parishioner of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church. She was a huge Notre Dame fan and thoroughly enjoyed watching college basketball, especially during March Madness.

A devoted caretaker, Wilma was happiest when she had the opportunity to care for others. She supported several missions over the years and would also rescue animals in need. Most special, above all, was her family. She loved to cook their favorite Italian dishes and spoil them with her famous peanut butter fudge. She cherished her grandchildren and great grandchildren, and took great pride in selecting their signature Christmas ornaments each year.

She will be greatly missed by her children and their spouses, Mike and Pat Massaro, Therese Massaro and Julie Massaro, all of Newark, and Joe and Maureen Massaro of Springfield; 10 grandchildren and their spouses, Andrea (Bryan) Annarino, Michael (Jennifer) Massaro, Genna (Jason) Hutchison, Brian (Lauren) Graham, Michael (Nick) Leedale, Krys (Scot) Holliday, Jen (Chris) Martin, Lauren (Luke) Purnell, Nick Massaro, and Andrea Massaro; 16 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Wilma was preceded in death by her husband, Michael Massaro; 2 great-grandsons; her brothers, Corbin (Ruth) Priest, and Clyde (Jinny) Priest; her sister, Marian (Doug) Wright; and her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, James (Ann) Brown.

Friends and family may call from 4-8 P.M, Monday, February 24, 2014 at the REED-EGAN FUNERAL HOME, 141 Green Wave Drive, where a Vigil Service will be held at 7:30 P.M.

The family requests memorials to the Newark Catholic Foundation, 1 Green Wave Drive, Newark, OH 43055; Springfield Catholic Central School, 1200 E High St Springfield, OH 45505; or the local Humane Society.
