Shirley Ann (Pheneger) Crim

NEWARK: A funeral service for Shirley Ann (Pheneger) Crim, age 87 of Newark, will be held Thursday, March 6, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the Brucker & Kishler Funeral Home with Pastor Mark Pierce officiating. Burial will follow in Newark Memorial Gardens.

Shirley passed away Thursday, February 27, 2014 in Newark. She was born July 10, 1926 in Granville Township, the oldest of seven children, to the late Parker A. and Thelma (Wright) Pheneger.

Shirley was a 1944 Alexandria High School graduate. She worked at the Newark Stove Company, sold House of Stuart cosmetics, and at Walker Battat. Shirley was the Audio Visual Bus Driver for the Licking County Schools before she left with her husband and son to move to Savannah, Georgia with the Roper Corporation. After living in Savannah for ten years, she returned to the farm in Chatham and worked at Licking County JVS (C-Tec) in food service from which she retired at 69 years old.

Shirley was a 58 year member of the Chatham United Methodist Church, member of the Teheran Grotto, and Eastern Star.

Shirley is survived by her children, Joanne (Harry) Little of Heath, Joyce Ballard of Granville, and Joseph Bradley (fiance Tereasa) Crim of Groveport; her grandchildren: Sean (Nicole) Little of Newark, Aaron (Jessica) Little of Pickerington, and Erika Little of Columbus; great-granddaughter, Brittany Little of Florida; and step-great-grandchildren, Ashleigh and Jacob Kennedy of Newark; step-great-great granddaughter, Ellie. Shirley is also survived by her sister, Barbara (Earl) Jones of Lancaster; and brother, Jim (Barbara) Pheneger of Berea; sisters-in-law, Ruth Pheneger of Newark and Carol Pheneger of Florida. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Bill, Dick, and Jack Pheneger; and her sister, Pat (Pheneger) Daniels; niece, Tracey; and great-nephew Barney.

The family would like to thank Hospice of Central Ohio especially Carla and Amanda for their care of Shirley for the past 20 months along with her volunteers, Ila and Marjorie. The family would also wishes to thank Chapel Grove Inn for their excellent care for over three years with special thanks to Penny and Barbie.

Friends and family may call Wednesday, March 5, 2014 from 3-7 p.m. at the Brucker-Kishler Funeral Home, 985 N. 21st Street, Newark, Ohio.
