NEWARK: Randy Alan Channel, 62, master falconer, reptile aficionado, horticulturist, motorcyclist, avid winemaker and moonshiner, died Monday, March 3, 2014, at his home.
Randy was born October 7, 1951, in Columbus, Ohio to Herbert and Mabel Yates Channel (Brant). Randy was a 1969 graduate of Heath High School, and a retiree of The Dow Chemical Company with 34 years service.
He led an extraordinary passionate life and was highly thought of by everyone who encountered him. His sharp wit, incredible intelligence, and contagious laugh could send a room into uproar.
Randy is survived by his mother and stepfather, Mabel and Gene Brant of Lancaster. His former wife, and one true love, Lucy. Their daughter, his baby "Dooder", Jessi (Shane) Price. Randy's daughter's Renee (Matt) Parrill and Randi Channel. Lucy's daughter's Amy (Douglas) Zink, Tresa (Randy) Nethers, and Bethany Benlemlih. Three granddaughters, Aileene and Emma Parrill, and August Channel. Six step grandchildren: Corey Ross, Abby and Nate Zink, Hanna, Semo, and Khalil Benlemlih. Randy is also survived by his mother in law, Gladys Holt, and his beast of a dog, Clyde. He will be sadly missed by his many friends and extended family at the Midway Tap.
He was preceded in death by his father and brother, Robert.
A celebration of Randy's life will be held Saturday, March 8, 2014, at 2pm at Brucker and Kishler Funeral Home, 985 N. 21st Street in Newark. All are welcome to greet the family one hour prior.
