Melvin Dale Wells

SARASOTA, FL: A funeral service for M. Dale Wells, 77, of Sarasota, FL, formerly of Pataskala, OH will be held at 11 AM on Wednesday, March 19, 2014 at the Church of God of Licking County, 2181 Riggs Rd., Newark, OH with Pastor Tony Bartlett officiating. Burial will be held at the Sarasota National Cemetery at a later date.

Mr. Wells passed away Saturday, March 15, 2014 at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, OH following open-heart surgery. He was born on October 10, 1936 to the late Fenton and Elsie (Jeffreys) Wells in Valley Point, WV.

He is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Connie L. (Smith) Wells; daughter, Misty (Matthew) Haynes of Newark; son, Dustin (Jessica) Wells of Sarasota, FL; daughter, Kelly M. Wells of Sarasota, FL; six grandchildren, Mikayla, Malia, Jaedyn and Tessa Haynes, Collin and Sienna Wells; sister, Anne (Robert) Barr; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son, Alan Wells.

Dale worked for the Newark Air Force Base where he held numerous engineering management and operations management positions. He retired from Boeing as an Aircraft Repair Manager. He served honorably in the U.S. Air Force. He was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Bradenton, FL, past board member of Hopewell Federal Credit Union and past president of the Management Club. He enjoyed reading, watching sports and spending time with his grandchildren. The love of his life was his family.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, March 18, 2014 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at Brucker-Kishler Funeral Home, 985 N. 21st St., Newark, OH.
