Catherine M. Wyatt

PICKERINGTON: A graveside service celebrating the life of Catherine M. Wyatt, age 97, of Pickerington, formerly of Newark, will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 5, at Cheshire Cemetery, 3271 Cheshire Road, Delaware.

Catherine passed away Tuesday, April 1, 2014 at Echo Manor Care Center in Pickerington. She was born January 1, 1917 in Delaware County to the late Jonathan Winans and Lois Guennie (Busch) Davenport.

Catherine was a graduate of Ohio University and taught at Northridge Elementary in Homer, Ohio. She was a member of the Gold Star Wives of America, Pythian Sisters - Johnstown and Alexandria, VFW Ladies Auxiliary, Licking County and Ohio Retired Teachers Association and Thurston United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Ronald Fairbanks of Florida; two granddaughters, Mirina (Deshawn) Oliver, Crystal (David) Howells; great-grandchildren, Teronn, Taryn Danielle, Tyler and Devante'; one step-grandchild; many step-great-grandchildren; several step-great-great-grandchildren; siblings, Winfred (Mary) Davenport, Opal Taylor, and Esther Nelligan; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Charles Winters, who died during WWII at the Battle of Anzio; two sons, Charles Winters II and David Winters; eight brothers and three sisters; former husband, Ronald Wyatt.

The Newark Chapel of Henderson-Van Atta-Stickle Funeral and Cremation Service, 59 North Fifth Street, Newark is assisting the family with arrangements.
