Nathan "Red" D. Wigle

NEWARK: A funeral service for Nathan "Red" D. Wigle, 83, of Newark, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday at the Christian Life Center, 665 Linnville Rd. Heath, with Bishop T.L. Kirk and Pastor James Kirk officiating. Burial will follow at Wilson Cemetery, where military honors will be conducted by the Licking County Veterans Alliance.

Mr. Wigle, a retired operating engineer for Nu-Way Services, went home to be with the Lord on April 14, 2014, at the Selma Markowitz Hospice Care Center. He was born December 21, 1930, in Johnstown, to the late Hoadley and Naomi (Fisher) Wigle.

Mr. Wigle was a US Army Veteran serving from 1950-1952 in the Korean War and was a corpsmen in Germany. He was a member of the Christian Life Center and a 34-year member of Operating Engineers Union.

He is survived by his wife, Carole J. (Smith) Roberts Wigle; daughters, Judy (Ernie) Merrill, Peggy (Bill) Sadowski, and Janet (Garrett) Ogilbee all of Newark; step-children, Carolyn (Doug) Arnold, Marilyn (Warren) Heminger, and Fred (Brenda) Pettit all of Newark, Shelley (Chris) McPherson of Zanesville, Lori (Barry) Metz of Connecticut and Wendy (Chance) Steele of Zanesville; 25 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren, and his Nu-Way family, Wilda Mae "Skip" McInturf, Dannette McInturf and family, Bill and Linda Farley and family, and Neisha and Dean Grubaugh and daughter.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by six brothers; two sisters; former wife, Helen Wigle, and stepson, Ray Pettit.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Brucker and Kishler Funeral Home, 985 N. 21st St. Newark.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Christian Life Center, Anchor Church in Zanesville, or Hospice of Central Ohio.
