Arthur L. Mras

NEWARK: Funeral services for Arthur L. "Art" Mras will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday June 20, 2014 at Brucker-Kishler Funeral Home, 985 N 21st Street, Newark with Pastor Kristin Santiago presiding. Interment will follow at Newark Memorial Gardens with military honors rendered by Licking County Veterans Alliance. The family will receive friends and acquaintances 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Mr. Mras, age 81, passed away on Monday June 12, 2014 at the Selma Markowitz Hospice Center, Newark, Ohio. He was born February 14, 1933 in Marblehead, Ohio the son of the late Julius M. and Meta (Brauer) Mras. Art served with the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War and was honorably discharged as a sergeant September 1954. He would marry his wife, Ruie R. (Lanning) Mras in January of 1977. In 1988 he would retire from the Newark Air Force Base as a production scheduler after 31 years of service. Art was a former resident of Lexington, Ohio and former member of St. Johns Lutheran Church, Marblehead, Ohio. He was a member of the National Rifle Association and enjoyed hunting, fishing, golf and bowling.

Art is survived by his brother Gary (Cathy) Mras of Newark; step-daughter Rita Shepherd and step granddaughter Danielle (Greg) Courson of Newark; niece Mandy (Rich) Horst and nephew Mark (Beatriz) Mras; cousins Robert (Dorothy) Antalik, Janet Monak and Iantha Grove.

In addition to his parents, wife Ruie preceded Art in death in 2007.
