Carol J. Porter

HEATH: A memorial service for Carol J. Porter, 83, of Newark, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at Christ Lutheran Church, with Pastor Kris Santiago officiating. Family and friends may gather from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. Tuesday prior to the service at the church. Following the service there will be a luncheon served in the church family center. A private inurnment will be held at a later date at Newark Memorial Gardens.

Carol also had a strong Christian faith. She passed away Wednesday, July 2, 2014 at her residence, surrounded by her family. She was born December 20, 1930, in Newark, to the late Clyde and Gladys (Warman) Brooks. She graduated from Newark High School in the class of 1949 and later married the love of her life, Stanton L. Porter in January of 1952.

Carol is survived by her children, Carla Chaney, Lisa Barsotti, and Scott (Chris) Porter all of Newark; grandchildren, Jason Giblin, Jamie Porter, Savannah Barsotti, Seth Porter, and Shay Porter all of Newark; great grandchildren, Jazmin Stallworth of Columbus, Jayden Giblin of TN, Adriana Ash of Newark, Jason Giblin, Jr. of Newark, and Jazlynn Giblin of Columbus; brother, William E. (Pegge) Brooks of Perrysburg, and three nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Stanton L. Porter, who passed away April 10, 2009.

To Carol, her family was the most important priority of her life, and being a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother was something that she handled very well. She was the "solid rock" of the family. She will be deeply missed.

Memorial contributions may be made in Carol's honor to Acclaim Hospice or to Christ Lutheran Church in Heath, OH.
