NEWARK: Joan E. Field, age 81, of Newark, passed away Tuesday, July 8, 2014 at Kindred Healthcare.
She was born November 18, 1932 in Painesville, Ohio to the late Joseph and Elizabeth (Lefelhoc) Advey.
Joan was a wonderful cook who had worked at many local restaurants including, The Aladdin, Evergreen Restaurant, Bob Evans and Bryn Mawr Restaurant. She also was the frat house cook for the Sigma Chi Fraternity at Denison University. In addition to her love of cooking, Joan was an avid reader and a full time mother and grandmother devoting her time to taking care of her family. She also managed the Granville Mobile Home Park for many years.
She is survived by two sons, Hugh (Karen) Field of Glen Allen, Virginia and Ralph Field of Newark; two daughters, Sandra J. (Jim) Saxinger and Caroline E. (Russell) Yates both of Newark; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two brothers, a sister and an infant great-granddaughter.
At her request no calling hours or services will be observed.
The family would like to thank the staff of Kindred Care and Rehabilitation for their kindness in taking care Joan.
The Newark Chapel of Henderson-Van Atta-Stickle Funeral & Cremation Service, 59 North Fifth Street, Newark, is assisting the family with arrangements.
