AMSTERDAM: A funeral service celebrating the life of Emma K. Szekely, age 99, of Amsterdam will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, August 15, at the Heath Chapel of Henderson-Van Atta-Stickle Funeral and Cremation Service with Rev. Glen West officiating. Burial will take place in Fairmount Cemetery. Friends and relatives may call one hour prior to the service from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m.
Mrs. Szekely passed away Wednesday, August 13, 2014 at Selma Markowitz Care Center (operated by Hospice of Central Ohio) with her family by her side.
She was born January 25, 1915 in Germany. Emma was a wonderful homemaker who provided a loving home to her family and will always be remembered as a devoted mother, wife and grandmother. She was a great person to be around and was always helping others. She enjoyed tending the flowers at her home, was a member of Linnwood Baptist Church in Amsterdam and had previously worked in the cafeteria at Lantana Elementary School in Florida.
She is survived by a son, George W. Snelling; two daughters, Anita (Jimmy) Mauller and Amelia Snelling; and 11 grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two husbands, P.W. Snelling and Steve Szekely.
The Heath Chapel of Henderson-Van Atta-Stickle Funeral & Cremation Service, 1249 Hebron Road, Heath, is assisting the family with the arrangements.
