Gloria P. Gray

NEWARK: Gloria P. Gray, 90, of Newark, passed away Wednesday evening, August 20, 2014 in her home surrounded by her family.

Born August 16, 1924, in Aurora, Colorado, she was the daughter of Grace C. McClellan and Earl D. Wightman. Her stepfather was William McClellan of Akron.

Gloria participated in many activities during her lifetime, i.e. golfing, bowling, seamstress, homemaker, artist, and swimmer. She was also hostess to summertime pool parties at her home for her family, especially all of her grandchildren throughout the summer months. Gloria always commented "When it was time to close the pool, it was like a death in the family." Many memories were also made during the Christmas Holidays as that was one of her favorite times for her and her family. Gloria also helped build the business known as Gray & Sons TV.

She is survived by her husband of 72 years, Robert W. Gray, whom she married on January 3, 1942. She is also survived by her children and their spouses, Carolyn and Dale Romine, Rich and Pam Gray, Barb Gray, and Patt and Dave Willis; 9 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; and her brother and sister-in-law William and Ann McClellan.

In addition to her parents, Gloria was preceded in death by her sister, Barbara Sarchet; 3 brothers, Harold Wightman, Charles "Chuck" Wightman, and Gerald "Jerry" McClellan.

At her request, there will be no calling hours or memorial services.

The Gray family wishes to give a special "Thank You" to all of her caregivers from Hospice of Central Ohio and ask that memorial contributions be made to the Foundation for Hospice of Central Ohio, PO Box 430, Newark, OH 43058.
