NEWARK: A funeral service for Forrest H. Stedman will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Marne United Methodist Church, 1019 Licking Valley Road N.E., Newark, with Pastor Gus Cristo-Baker presiding. Interment will follow at Spring Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends and relatives 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday at Brucker-Kishler Funeral Home, 985 North 21st Street, Newark.
Mr. Stedman, age 63, went to be with the Lord on October 27, 2009 at his home, with his family at his side. Forrest was born January 6, 1946 in Hartland, Maine to Irvin and Irma Stedman. He married Joanna Earlene (Hupp) Stedman on July 5, 1969. Since their married they have lived, worshipped, worked and raised their family in Newark, Ohio.
Forrest worked for the Newark Air Force Base and Boeing retiring in 2004. He always loved his work, especially mentoring others. He served his country in the United States Air Force after graduating from Hartland Academy in Maine. Forrest and his wife, Earlene, loved to travel to Maine to visit his family, to Myrtle Beach each fall and out West to hike and ski.
Forrest served faithfully at Marne United Methodist Church, leading Sunday School classes and working with the sound system. He also volunteered with Habitat for Humanity. He enjoyed reading, splitting wood, telling tales, planning trips and visiting with family and friends, working on his computer and answering his sons' "how to fix it" questions.
Mr. Stedman is survived by his loving and faithful wife, Earlene; son, Kevin (Julie) Stedman and grandchildren, Peter, Isaac and Ruby, of Toboso, OH; son, Michael (Suzanne) Stedman and grandchildren, Abigail, Nathaniel and Samuel, of Powell, OH; mother, Irma Stedman; brothers, James (Jackie and John (Holly) Stedman; sisters, Susan (Don) Butters, Sylvia (Don) Yeaton and Sharon (Joe) Veilleux.
In addition to his father, Forrest was preceded in death by his grandson, Gabriel.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be sent to Marne United Methodist Church c/o the sound ministry or to Habitat for Humanity.
