Richard Lee Haas

NEWARK: A funeral service for Richard Lee Haas will be held 1:00 P.M. Friday, December 30, 2011at Brucker-Kishler Funeral Home, 985 North 21st Street, Newark with Pastor Jeff Belt presiding. Interment will follow at Newark Memorial Gardens with military honors rendered by Licking County Veterans Alliance. The family will receive friends and relatives 5-8 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home.

Mr. Haas, age 87, passed away Monday, December 26, 2011 at Tuscany Gardens in Pataskala. He was born May 2, 1924 in Oak Harbor, Ohio to his parents Erie and Ada (Yeisley) Haas. Richard worked for the Newark Air Force Base many years and served in the U.S. Navy aboard the U.S.S. Wadsworth during WWII. He was the loving husband of Vera Mae Haas who preceded him in death in 2010. Richard was a member of Heath United Methodist Church and Heath United Methodist Men as well as a member of the American Legion.

Richard is survived by his sons Roger (Deborah) Haas of Newark and James (Cheryl) Haas of Pittsburgh, PA; daughters Roberta "Bobbie" Humphrey of Niceville, FL, Karen Johnston (Roger Wimer) of Heath, Patricia (Bruce) Day of Waterbury, CT and Louise (Todd) Robbins of Pataskala as well as 13 grandchildren and their spouses, seven great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and friends.

In addition to his wife and parents, infant twin brother, Robert Haas, brother Raymond Haas and sister Kathryn Madison preceded Richard in death.

The family suggests memorial gifts in Richard's name made to Heath United Methodist Church, 1149 Hebron Road, Heath, OH 43056.
