NEWARK: A graveside funeral service for Jerry L. Hollingshead, 77 of Newark will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 9, 2012 at Newark Memorial Gardens with Pastor Tom Myers officiating.
Mr. Hollingshead died Friday, October 5, 2012 at the home of his daughter. He was born November 16, 1934 in Senecaville to the late Hiram and Virgil (Hall) Hollingshead.
A veteran of the U.S. Air Force, Mr. Hollingshead had worked for Rockwell International. He was a member of the American Legion, V.F.W. and Moose Lodge. Mr. Hollingshead was an avid fisherman and golfer. Above all, he loved his family.
Survivors include his daughter, Deena (Ron) Wright of Newark; grandchildren, Angela (Chris) Kline of Dublin and Ron Bone of St. Louisville; great-grandchildren, Ryan Kline and Allison Bone; brothers, John (Dorothy) Hollingshead, Everett (Judy) Hollingshead, both of Newark; sisters, Marjorie McConnell, Joyce (Larry) McCreary, both of Newark, Esther (Bill) Chapel of Kirtland, sisters in-law, Peg Hollingshead, Evelyn Hollingshead; both of Newark; a special friend and golfing buddy, Dick Taylor; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Hollingshead was preceded in death by his wife Marjorie F. (Luby) Hollingshead, whom he married January 7, 1956, and who died February 20, 2011; two brothers, Bing Hollingshead and Ronald Hollingshead.
Friends and family may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, October 8, 2012 at the NEWARK CHAPEL of VENSIL & CHUTE FUNERAL HOME, 1850 W. Main St., Newark.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Central Ohio; envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
