NEWARK: A funeral service for Earl G. Whyde of Newark will be held Sunday November 18, 2012 at 2:00 PM at the Criss-Schoedinger Funeral Home with Rev. Earl Harris officiating.
Earl was born on September 24, 1942 in Newark to the late Earl J. and Delora (Britton) Whyde. Being a pilot with over 20,000 hours of safe flying, he took off one last time from his home on Thursday, November 15, 2012 surrounded by his loving family. He was 70.
He is survived by his wife Joyce, whom he married in 1990; her children Ann Glasmeier and Paul Glasmeier, grandchildren Ashley and Cody Glasmeier, Danielle Faller and two great-great-grandchildren. Sisters Nancy J. (James) Ogilbee of Newark and his half sister Carol (Bud) Burton of Hillsboro, Ohio, and his wonderful pets over the years Betsy, Maggie, Alex, and Monty.
Earl was a graduate of Newark High School, worked at North American Rockwell and became a Private Corporate Pilot, meeting many famous people during his career. He loved flying, and became Part owner of FBO at Yeager Airport/Executive Air Terminal in Charleston, West Virginia. He also loved to go on cruises with Joyce and their friends, frame pictures, collect die-cast cars and planes, and was an avid fan of the WVU Mountaineers and OSU Buckeyes.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM and from noon Sunday until the time of the service.
