Timothy A. Hopkins

NEWARK: A funeral service for Timothy A. Hopkins, 53, of Newark will be held at 1PM, Thursday, December 6, 2012, at the Brucker-Kishler Funeral Home, 985 N. 21st Street in Newark. Friends and family may call from 6-8PM, Wednesday, at the funeral home.

Mr. Hopkins died Saturday, December 1, 2012, at Grant Medical Center in Columbus, following injuries sustained in an automobile accident on Friday. He was born July 3, 1959, in Weymouth, Massachusetts, to the late Raymond Hopkins and Rose Marie (Farina) Hopkins, of Newark, who survives.

He was a graduate of Newark High School and served in the US Navy from 1978 until his honorable discharge in 1982, with service aboard the USS Simon Lake. For 21 years he had worked at Owens-Corning Fiberglas. Since childhood, he loved to learn, read and play the guitar. He loved dogs and was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed bike riding, boating and hunting. Tim was a devoted husband, uncle and friend and loved supporting his nieces and nephews in whatever they did. He especially enjoyed following their athletic endeavors at Newark Catholic and Licking Valley.

Surviving in addition to his mother, are his wife, Marcy M. (Mitchell) Hopkins; brothers and sister, Raymond E. (Stacey) Hopkins of Newark, Glenn N. Hopkins of Newark, Bryan K. Hopkins of Bradenton, Florida, Deborah R. (Jerry) McQuade of Hanover, Matthew (Kelli) Hopkins of Newark; nieces and nephews, Katherine R. (Zachary) Stockdale, Richard Bond, Raymond Bond, Cody Bond, Amanda R. (David) Philipps and their daughter, Abigale, Matthew Hopkins, Nathanael Hopkins, McKenzie G. Hopkins, Noah Hopkins, Michael Hopkins; Corinne Troxell and friend Kris Bryslan, Joseph H. Davis; his father and mother in law, Mark Mitchell of Arizona, Diana S. Woods of Millersport; sister and brothers in law, Mia Mitchell and Michael Davis of Newark, Carrie L. Woods of Millersport and his beloved bulldogs, Layla And Rocky.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made the Newark Catholic Athletic Association or the Licking Valley Athletic Association.
