Matthew Roan (Rocky) Shackleford
LANCASTER: Matthew Roan (Rocky) Shackleford, age 44 of Lancaster, Ohio departed this life and went home to glory Tuesday, May 28th, 2013 at his home.
Matthew was born to Samuel R. Shackleford Jr and Peggie Ann (Cooper) Shackleford on January 30, 1969.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, June 13th at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Michael A Noble officiating.
Matthew was born and raised in Newark, Ohio and graduated from Newark High School in 1987. In June 1994 he was bestowed with an Associates of Art Degree from Columbus State Community College He also is a 1996 graduate of Ohio University of Athens, Ohio. Matt loved to cook and his education and training enabled him to fulfill his dreams. At one time he was a manager of Red Lobster and then the Olive Garden in Heath, Ohio. He had also worked at the Cheesecake Factory in Columbus. He was a member of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church and he loved the Lord.
He is survived by his loving father, Sam; three brothers: Charles L. Shackleford of New Hampshire, David S. Shackleford of Columbus and Darrell L. (Michelle) Shackleford of Blacklick, Ohio; a number of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins that will always cherish his memory. Rocky was greatly loved and will be missed by family and friends and his faithful little dogs Annabelle and Rocco who were always by his side.
Matthew was preceded in death by his mother in 2008; maternal grandparents, Joseph and Lillian Cooper and great grandmother Annabelle Slaughter; paternal grandparents, Sam and Geneva Shackleford.
Following the service, friends are asked to the join the Family in the Church Fellowship Hall for dinner.
