NEWARK: Funeral service for Howard "Eddie" Valentine will be held 4:00 P.M. Friday, June 21, 2013 at Brucker Kishler Funeral Home, 985 N. 21st Street, Newark, with Pastor Walt Bruah presiding. The family will receive friends and relatives 2-4 P.M. Friday at the funeral home with a Masonic Service Friday afternoon. A private inurnment service at Newark Memorial Gardens will take place at a later date.
Mr. Valentine, age 78, passed away on Tuesday, June 18, 2013 at the Selma Markowitz Care Center, Newark. He was born June 19, 1934 in Columbus, Ohio. Howard worked for Holophane for 15 years and retired from Owens Corning in 1988 after 21 years as a machinist. Eddie was a member of Lodge #97 F&A.M. He was an avid golfer and had a kind heart and gentle nature.
Howard is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Helen Jean (Hess) Valentine whom he married on June 5, 1954 in Drill, VA; children Darin (special friend Suzanne Scott) Valentine of Newark, Randy (Patricia) Valentine of Newark and Kristie (William Sr.) Sullivan of Clarksville, Tennessee; six grandchildren Joshua Valentine, Clint Valentine, Darin Sullivan, Timothy Sullivan, Amanda Sheets, Vanessa Valentine and step-grandson William Sullivan Jr. and 15 great grandchildren;; sister Florence O'Neill of Indiana and brother Jacob Monzat of Cleveland; mother-in-law Gladys Hess of Newark; daughter-in-law Cathy Valentine of Nashport as well as nieces and nephews.
Eddie was preceded in death by his mother Clara Louis Valentine; his grandparents who raised him as a child, Harry C. and Edna Valentine as well as four brothers, two sisters and several nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt "Thanks" to family, neighbors and friends for their kindness and support shown to the family in their time of need and to the staff of Hospice of Central Ohio for their care and support of Eddie and his family. They are indeed "angels for the ill."
The family requests, in lieu of flowers, donations made to Hospice of Central Ohio or The Lane Sheets Cancer Fund C/O Park National Bank on E. Main Street, Newark.
