Joseph Henry "Joe" Schimpf

HARRIMAN, TN: A funeral service for Joseph Henry "Joe" Schimpf, age 61, of Harriman, Tennessee, formerly of Newark, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 5, at Criss-Schoedinger Funeral Home with Rev. William K. Wayt, officiating. Burial will take place in Rocky Fork Cemetery.

Joe passed away on Monday, June 29, 2013 at Parkwest Hospital in Knoxville, Tennessee. He was born November 22, 1951 in Newark, Ohio to Mabel A. (Fulton) Schimpf of Newark and the late William Henry Schimpf.

Joe retired in 2010 from Local #207 where he had worked in asbestos removal. Joe enjoyed genealogy, bird watching, and collecting coins, stamps and diecast toy tractors.

In addition to his mother, Mabel; he is survived by his companion of 41 years, Hilda I. Cox of Harriman, Tenn.; four sons, Joseph "Jay" Schimpf (Sharon Montgomery) of Newark, Terry Schimpf (Amanda Ours) of Heath, Robert Schimpf of Newark and Matt (Amber) Schimpf of Harriman, Tenn.; daughter-in-law, Wessie Schimpf of Newark; four brothers, Bill (Becky) Redman of Zanesville, Terry (Virginia) Schimpf of Newark, Russ Schimpf of Newark and Ed Schimpf of Newark; sister, Wanda "Sue" Schimpf (Fred Burchard) of Heath; and many grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Friends may call from 9-11 a.m. on Friday, July 5, at the funeral home, 179 Granville Street, Newark.
