Paul Claggett Obituary
NEWARK: Paul L. Claggett, 79, of Newark, passed away Wednesday, July 15, 2015, at his residence, where he was lovingly cared for by his family. He was born June 20, 1936 in Newark, OH to the late Lloyd S. and Martha E. (Griffith) Claggett.
Paul was a Newark HS graduate, who received his Associates Degree in Accounting from the Columbus Business University. Early in his career he was employed for 2 ½ years with W.E. Langdon Accountants. Claggett and Sons, Inc. was founded in 1953 by Lloyd S. Claggett. Paul became the President of the Company in 1956 and did not retire, remaining active in the business until the time of his passing. Following his Father's steps in construction, and his Lord's steps in living, Paul Claggett is known to have referred to himself as "The son of a Carpenter and walked in His steps".
Mr.Claggett was a member of the Harrison Chapel Bible Methodist Church where he served as Trustee and Church Treasurer for over 50 years. He served as the Conference Treasurer for 30 years, and was on the Bible Conference Camp Board for 20 years. His devotion to God and love of people led him to minister at the Pataskala Oaks Care Center for 15 years.
He was an avid hunter and enjoyed gardening, fire wood/timber work and farming. Paul was described as a generous man with a hardy laugh who was consistent, loving, kind, righteous and had self control. He was entirely devoted to his family and God.
He is survived by his wife Linda of 57 years; sons, Timothy Paul (Rebecca J.) Claggett of Newark, OH, Thomas Wesley (Tami L.) Claggett of St. Louisville, OH and Thaddeus James (Elizabeth Ann) Claggett of Newark, OH; daughter, Kim Claggett of Newark, OH; Son-In-Law: Michael Woody; Brother: Lewis E. (Bonnie) Claggett of Newark, OH; sisters, Martha Ann (Robert "Bob") Romine, of Newark, and Martha Alice Abbott of Delaware, OH; grandchildren, Nathaniel Paul and Brian Wesley Claggett, Elizabeth Ashley (Nate) Claggett Humphrey, Benjamin Lloyd, David Mitchell, Olivia Suzanne, Rosalynne Elise, and Sophia Dawn Claggett all of Newark, OH, Katie Beth, Matthew Thomas, Daniel Paul, Sarah Ann and Michael Westley Claggett all of St. Louisville, OH, Emily Grace and Robert Lloyd Claggett, both of Newark, OH.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter, Bethany Claggett Woody; his sister, Ellen Claggett; and his niece, Patricia L. Claggett.
A funeral service for Paul L. Claggett will be held 9:00 am Saturday, July 18 at the Newark Baptist Temple, 81 Licking View Drive, Heath, OH with Pastors Gary Brugger and James Dennis officiating. Family will receive friends Friday, July 17 from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Brucker & Kishler Funeral Home, 985 N. 21st Street, Newark, OH.

I cannot believe it has been six years since Paul passed. It was my pleasure to know him through my friend Tim, Paul's son. He was a wonderful human being and is surely missed. Seeing his face on this posting just brings a smile to my face remembering his great presence. Great man.
