GRANTSBORO - Mary Anna Grodeski, 97, passed away Monday, November 12, 2012, at Grantsbrook Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.
She attended St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church in Oriental.
She is survived by her daughters, Mary Ann Brown and husband, Walter, of Oriental and June Miller and husband, Jerry, of Sayville, N.Y.; beloved companion "Kitty"; five grandchildren, Michele Bessette, Lee Brown, Michael Brown, Amalie Matera and Daniel Miller; 14 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held 1:30 p.m. Thursday, November 15, at St. Paul's Catholic Church with Monsignor Lewis officiating. Interment will immediately follow the service in St. Joseph's Cemetery.
The family will receive friends one-half hour prior to the service at the church.
In lieu of flowers the family suggested memorial contributions be made to St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church Building Fund or Pamlico County Fishes & Loaves Outreach, both addressed to 1149 White Farm Rd., Oriental, NC 28571.

Mary was more like a sister to me than a sister-in-law.
