Bartel, Donald J.* - New Bern  
Donald "Don" J. Bartel, passed away on January 28, 2015. He was born on February 6, 1930 in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin. He grew up in the Washington, DC area and lived there until 1994 when he and his wife Lucille moved to New Bern, NC. Don was a U.S. Army veteran, a retired Metropolitan DC K9 Police Officer, a retired K9 trainer for the Smithsonian Institute and a member of Riverdale United Methodist Church. Prior to retirement, Don was an active member of the Blue Lodge of the Free Masons as well as several other Masonic organizations. After retirement, he still enjoyed training police dogs, watching his favorite Ram, Redskins and spending time with his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of over 60 years, Mary Lucille Bartel, his daughter, Karen Drumm and husband Robert of Mt. Pleasant, SC and his beloved grandsons, Kenneth Casteel, Esquire of Charlotte, NC and Corey R. Drumm of Mt. Pleasant, SC. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the SECU Crystal Coast Hospice House, 100 Big Rock Weigh, Newport, NC 28570 or to Riverdale United Methodist Church, 5195 Hwy. 70 East, New Bern, NC 28562. Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. Monday, February 2, 2015, followed by his funeral service at 2:00 pm, both at Riverdale United Methodist Church, 5195 Hwy. 70 East, New Bern, NC. Belangia, Winford Errol* - Arapahoe  
ARAPAHOE | Winford "Wimpy" Errol Belangia, 71, of Arapahoe, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 29, 2015, at home. He was a member of Arapahoe Free Will Baptist Church. He owned and operated Belangia's Supermarket since 1973 and helped start the Arapahoe V.F.D. He was a die-hard Harley Davidson rider and a charter member of the H.O.G. Club. He enjoyed fishing and being on the water and was a Nascar fan. He was preceded in death by his father, Mr. Elmo Belangia Sr. and his son, Derek. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Janice Belangia; his mother, Lela Belangia of Arapahoe; son, Robert Belaniga and wife, Lisa, of Arapahoe; brother, Elmo "Bud" Belangia and wife, Pat, of Arapahoe; sister, Barbara Javaras of Chicago; three grandchildren, Craig Belangia and wife, Breanna, of Arapahoe, Ruark "Ru" Belangia and Amanda Hancock, both of Riverview, Fla.; one great-grandchild, Kyla Belangia of Arapahoe; nieces, Cindy Conder and husband, Steve, of Louisville, KY and Dr. Kristin Javaras of Cambridge, MA; and his buddies, Ajax, Binkie and Molly. His memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, February 1st at Arapahoe Free Will Baptist Church with the Revs. Cindy Midyette, Penny Dollar Farmer and Gary Bryan officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the church and other times at the home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggested memorial contributions be made to Pamlico County Hospice, 11146 Hwy 55 E, Grantsboro, NC 28529 or one's favorite charity. NEW BERN | Richard Lee Buck, 68 of New Bern, died on Friday, Jan. 23, 2015. He served his country in the United States Army. He is survived by his brother, Robert Buck of Pollocksville; one sister, Shelia Fay Buck of California; and one step-sister, Laura Elizabeth Alphin of California. A longtime resident of New Bern, he was a US Navy veteran, a retired carrier with the US Postal Service, a member of Doric Lodge and Sudan Temple in New Bern. Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 31, 2015, at Greenleaf Memorial Park. The family will receive friends after the service. He is survived by his wife, Patsy; daughter, Patricia, of Pine Bush, N.Y.; sons, Chris, of Elm City, Billy Jr., of Cedar Grove; sister, Vivian Boyd, of Fairfield, Calif.; six grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren. HAVELOCK | George "Buddy" Washington Boone Jr., 73, of 230 Boone Road, Havelock, died on Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2015, at his residence. He was a lifetime member of Piney Grove A.M.E. Zion Church where he was a steward and member of the Senior Choir. He was employed with MCCS for thirty-five years as a barber. He is survived by his wife, Helen Carter Boone of the home; one son, George Boone III; seven daughters, Pamela D. Leverette, Shelia Y. Davis, Talitha A. Rowe, Janese R. Boone, Dorina N. Boone, LaToyia A. Kinsey and Beverly Blango; seven grandchildren; four brothers, Frank Taylor, Raymond L. Boone, Gordon L. Boone and Wilbur Boone; four sisters, Beulah B. George, Sudie B. Foster, Shirley B. Becton and LaVern B. Teel. The family will receive their friends and guests at the residence.
