Adams, Harold Eugene* - GRANTSBORO  
Harold Eugene Adams, 88, of Grantsboro, passed away Saturday, May 23, 2015 at CarolinaEast Medical Center. He is survived by three sons, Robert Clifton Adams (Jeannie) of Winterville, Harold Edward Adams (Michele) of New Bern, Gregory Hughes Adams of Nebo; one daughter, Senie Thersa Jones (Tommy) of Grantsboro; one brother, Odric A. Adams of New Bern; eight grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday, May 26TH at Spring Garden Cemetery with the Rev. Wanda Nipper officiating. Bryant, Charles - HAVELOCK  
HAVELOCK | Charles Bryant, 53, of 470 Temples Point Road, Havelock, died Wednesday, May 13, 2015, at his residence. His graveside funeral service is 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 20, 2015, at the Bryant Family Cemetery, Alease Road, Craven Corner community of Havelock. He is survived by his three sons, Jamar Frazier of Charleston, S.C., Craig Frazier of Fort Wainwright, Alaska, and James Bryant of Havelock; one daughter, Latifah B. Soksinski of Havelock; one brother, Rodney Bryant of Philadelphia, Pa.; two sisters, Barbara A. Pilgrim and Phyllis Bryant of Brooklyn, N.Y.; and five grandchildren. The family will receive friends at the home of Eary Bryant Martin, 201 Club Foot Creek Road, Havelock. Arrangements are by Oscar's Mortuary, Inc.

Bundy Jr., Jimmy Thomas* - Vanceboro  
VANCEBORO | Jimmy Thomas "Tommy" Bundy Jr., 65, passed away on Tuesday, May 26, 2015. A graveside service will be conducted Thursday at 2:30 pm in Celestial Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 pm at Wilkerson Funeral Home in Vanceboro and other times at his home, 101 Kinsaw Court, Vanceboro, off of Weyerhaeuser Rd. Tommy, a native of Pitt County, had lived the last 21 years in Vanceboro. He worked in sales his entire career and was formerly employed with Furniture Fair in New Bern. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jimmy Thomas and Betty Mae Aldridge Bundy. JACKSONVILLE | Mary Elizabeth Collins, age 87, of Jacksonville, passed away Monday, May 25, 2015 at Harbour View Health Center, Morehead City. Mrs. Collins is survived by two daughters, Linda Gail Collins Dragone of Montgomery, TX, Patricia "Pat" Collins Mizesko of Emerald Isle; a son, Kenneth G. "Buddy" Collins of Willis, TX; sister, Faye Forster of Nashville, Tenn.; five grandsons and four great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kermit Gordan Collins, her parents, Letha C. Capps and Laura Matthews Capps, two sisters, Maxine Gurganus, Doris Hood and one brother, Darel Capps. Connolly, Gertrude Mary - New Bern  
NEW BERN | Gertrude Mary Connolly, 96, of New Bern, died at River Point Crest Nursing Home on Friday, May 1, 2015. Connolly had a career at the Sun Journal that spanned 50 years. She was also a member of St. Paul Catholic Church and charter member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas Court Msgr. Michael A. Irwin #1704. Connolly is survived by her sister Josephine Connolly Fitzsimmons of Iselin, New Jersey. A funeral Mass will be held at St. Paul Catholic Church, 3005 Country Club Road, New Bern, North Carolina, on Monday, May 4, 2015 at noon. Visitation will start prior to the service at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow at New Bern Memorial Cemetery.

Cooper, Mary Elizabeth (Johnson) - Stamford  
STAMFORD, Conn. | Mary Elizabeth "Bake" Johnson Cooper, of Stamford, Conn., formerly of the Cash Corner Community, Bayboro, died on May 6, 2015. She was a 1941 graduate of E&M Cosmetology School of Beauty and Culture, a 1946 graduate of Elizabeth City State Teachers College and a retired school teacher and basketball coach for the Pamlico County School System. She is survived by three daughters, Jamilah Munir of Lithonia, Ga., Valerie Cooper of Stamford, Conn. and Hattie Best of Atlanta, Ga.; six grandsons; one great-grandson; one sister, Louise McDaniel. Viewing will be held on Saturday, May 9, 2015 at 11 a.m. in the New Bern Eastern M.B. Association Building, 885 NC Highway 306 North, Grantsboro. Service will immediately follow at noon. Interment immediately follows the service in the Johnson Family Cemetery. Arrangements are by Plinton-Curry Funeral Home, 411 W. Broad St., Westfield, N.J. Cuthrell, Sampson Bruce* - GRANTSBORO  
Sampson "Sam" Bruce Cuthrell, 40, of Grantsboro passed away Friday, May 15, 2015 at Kitty Askins Health Center, Goldsboro. He worked as a small engine mechanic. He is survived by his parents, Bruce & Caroleen Cuthrell; his brother, Ike Cuthrell; and nephews, Zeb & Marlin Cuthrell, all of Grantsboro. His funeral will be held 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 19, 2015 at Goose Creek Pentecostal Holiness Church with the Rev. Cindy Midyette officiating. Interment will follow immediately in Cuthrell Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Daugherty, Clem W.* - New Bern  
Clem W. Daugherty, 73 of New Bern, passed away Saturday, May 16, 2015 at CarolinaEast Medical Center. He is survived by his wife Marsha; daughter, Erika Gourd of New Bern; sister, Edna Cade of New Bern; brother-in-law, Everett Oliver Jr. (Amy) of Newport News, VA; three granddaughters, Katlund, Tiffany, and Emily Gourd of New Bern; and many nieces and nephews. Clem was born in Craven County, where he lived his life enjoying the outdoors. He loved bluegrass and gospel music and playing his bass guitar. He served as treasurer of the Number 9 Township fire department and later Rescue 30 for a number of years. Funeral services for Clem will be held at 1:00pm, Wednesday, May 20, 2015 at Cotten Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Greenleaf Memorial Park. Visitation will be held at Cotten Funeral Home, Tuesday, May 19, 2015 from 6-8:00pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Number 9 Township Fire and Rescue, 3783 Hwy 55 W, New Bern, NC 28562. Arrangements by Cotten Funeral Home and Crematory.

Duetsch Jr., Edward G.* - New Bern  
Born May 23, 1923; Deceased May 4, 2015 Ed served in the United States Marine Corps during World War II and Korea. In 1985, Ed a former IBM employee of twenty-nine years, retired to Fairfield Harbour from New Jersey. During Ed's retirement years, he enjoyed golf and tennis and was an active member at the West New Bern Presbyterian Church. Ed was also an active member of the New Bern Lions Club and was past president. Ed also served for many years as a board member and treasurer of Tideland Electric Co-operative. As a Presbyterian Lay Minister, he served at Wanoca Presbyterian Church in Washington, NC and Jason Presbyterian Church near Kinston, NC. Ed was predeceased by his wife Lucille of 67 years on January 18, 2015 and his eldest daughter Anne D. Kravitz in June 2014. His surviving family includes a daughter, Marjory (Richard) Praml of Winchester, VA; a son, Edward J (Esther) Duetsch of West Falls, NY; and son-in-law Howard Kravitz {late Anne D} of South Carolina. Grandchildren include Heather Scarlett Kibler, Richard D Praml, Jared N Kravitz, Meribeth Alabaugh, and Rebecca Keisling. Great grandchildren include Katarina Kibler, Kristianna and Tara Praml, Nic Christiansen, Jack and Katherine Kravitz, and Ashleigh, Hannah, Brady, Ella, & Adelynn Keisling. Surviving nieces and nephews are Alan Ryder, Martha Ryder, Bonnie (Jim) Cooke, Robert Duetsch, and David Duetsch. A private family service will be held at a later date. Arrangements by Cotten Funeral Home.
