Alton Lewis Amidon

HAVELOCK - Alton Lewis Amidon, Lt. Col. USMC (Ret.), age 77, of Havelock, died Thursday, December 6, 2012 at Carolina East Medical Center.

He served his country for 30 years as a United States Marine. Upon his retirement for the Corps, he was a teacher in the community college systems.

A funeral will be held 11:00 Tuesday morning at the base chapel aboard Cherry Point.

A Rosary will be held 6:00 Monday evening at the Woodbridge Funeral Home Chapel followed by a visitation from 6:30 until 8:00

He is preceded in death by his daughter Jacquie Amidon.

He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Claire Amidon; one daughter, Kathleen Inge and her husband Allan of Thornton, Colo.; four sons, Maj. Tom Amidon (USA Ret.) and his wife Claudia of White Pine, Tenn.; Chris Amidon and his wife Lisa of Apex, N.C.; Cmdr. Andy Amidon and his wife Shannon of Newport, R.I.; James Amidon and his wife Vicky of Pleasant Garden, N.C.; one sister, Lois Gray of Virginia Beach, Va.; one brother, David Amidon of Hillsborough, N.C. and 8 grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to: Honor Flight, Inc., Attn.: Diane Gresse, 300 E. Auburn Avenue, Springfield, Ohio, 45505.
