David D. Williams

HAVELOCK - David D. Williams, Sgt. Major USMC (Ret), 69, of Havelock, died April 28, 2014 at CarolinaEast Medical Center.
He served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps for 28 years with tours in Vietnam and Desert Storm. He was a DAV lifetime member, where he served as chaplain and as a fundraiser coordinator. He was highly decorated receiving many accommodations and medals.
Mr. Williams is survived by his wife, Treva A. Williams; his children, Karen Philipp of New Bern, Renae Hutsell (Joe) of Cameron, NC, Clement Williams of Raleigh; his grandchildren, Jeffery Hutsell (Misty) of Lexington, NC, Beth Philipp (Sisay) of Greenville, NC, Michelle Philipp of New Bern; and nine great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Lilly Levora Brown of Aberdeen, NC.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 3, 2014, at Cotten Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Greenleaf Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the DAV Chapter 26, P. O. Box 465 Havelock, NC 28532.
