Ellie Maready

Ellie "Ray" Maready, 80, of New Bern, died August 29, 2013 at home.

Ray worked for 29 years with Liberty Life Insurance which he referred to as his "mission field for the Lord." He loved meeting people and working for the Lord. Ray was a Christian who loved his Savior as well as those around him. His faith was a great part of his life. Ray loved the Lord with all of his heart. Ray was also a family man. He loved having all the family together. He was so proud of each one's accomplishments and continued to pray daily for them individually. Ray's children and grandchildren looked to him as the "cornerstone" of the family. His faith and trust in God was an inspiration to all. Although he battled many years of illness, Ray's spirit, faith, and will power continued to carry him to the end. Ray will be greatly missed by his wife, Louise of 58 years, his family, friends and associates. Although gone to receive his reward, Ray's final words to us all would be "get prepared to meet me in Heaven, all that will, please come."

He is preceded in death by his parents, Roscoe and Elma Maready and a brother, Eldridge "Red" Maready.

Ray is survived by his wife Louise Hill Maready, his children, Juanita Ormond and husband Rev. Robert Ormond of Washington, NC; Yvonne Knox and husband Gordon of Aulander, NC; Philip Maready and wife Angel of Pine Level, NC; his grandchildren, Lisa Rivera, Heather Helton and husband Curtis, Bryan Ormond and wife Sasha, Meagan Jarrett, Jessica and Courtney Maready, his step-grandchildren, Tammy Kittrell, Mikki Brown and Jason Knox, and his brothers and sisters, Elwood Maready and wife Carol, Joyce Jarman and husband Kenneth, Rabon Maready and wife Linda, Tiny Yeatts and Ronnie Maready, all of Beaulaville.
