James Windley Herman

NEW BERN | James Windley Herman died on September 1, 2014 in New Bern, NC, age 65, following a long battle with cancer. Jimmy, as he was known, was a graduate of Wagner College (1970) and Brooklyn Law School (1973). He served as an Assistant District Attorney in NY County in the 1970s and, thereafter for many years, as an Assistant United States Attorney in the US Dept. of Justice Organized Crime Strike Force office in Miami, FL.
He is survived by his brother, Peter, of Scarsdale, NY and by two cousins, Susan Windley Eames and Nancy Windley Shelton, each of New Bern. His cousins, Susan and Nancy, gave extensive time and effort to the oversight and coordination of his medical and hospice care during the long period of his illness and they have the gratitude and affection of the entire family and all who knew Jimmy.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
