Jappy Tyndall

NEW BERN - Jappy Tyndall, age 87, passed away on Thursday, January 17, 2013.

Jappy was born in Deep Run, Lenoir County and after serving in the United States Navy in World War II, he and his family moved to New Bern in 1951. He was employed by the FAA for 30 years. He was very active in the Lions Club for many years and had been a Hospice volunteer. Jappy was a member of Broad Street Christian Church.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Annie Mae Tyndall, and by four sisters. He is survived by his wife, Maxine Keel Tyndall; son Kenneth Tyndall of New Bern; daughter JoAnn Tyndall Larsen of Lubbock, Texas; brother Elsa P. Tyndall of Suffolk, Virginia, and three grandchildren, Sarah Tyndall, Andrew Tyndall and William Tyndall.

His funeral service will be held at Pollock-Best Funeral Home on Friday, January 18 at 2:30 p.m. with the Reverend Laura Johnson officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, just prior to the service and other times at the home.
