Jennett Ireland Goodwin

ARAPAHOE - Mrs. Jennett Ireland Goodwin, 93, formerly of New Bern, passed away Friday, November 1, 2013 at her home. She was originally from Florence, NC and moved to New Bern where she met her late husband Lawrence Goodwin. Jennett was a faithful member of St. Mary's Free Will Baptist Church where she was in the Ladies Auxiliary, the Star Group, and helped keep the nursery for many years. She loved sewing and quilting and made many beautiful hand–sewn quilts. Jennett and Lawrence raised 2 wonderful daughters, and served as loving and caring foster parents to 76 children.

Funeral services will be 2:00 PM, Monday, November 4, 2013 at St. Mary's Free Will Baptist Church with Rev. Lynn Renfro officiating. Burial will follow at Greenleaf Memorial Park. The family will receive friends 6-8:00 PM, Sunday, November 3, 2013 at Pollock-Best Funeral Home. Those wishing to offer words of hope and condolences may visit www.pollockbest.com.

Jennett is survived by her daughters, Sybil Yates and husband Bob, of Arapahoe, NC; Gail Casey and husband Ralph, of Grantsboro, NC; her sister, Ottalie Kolt of Norfolk, VA; and her grandchildren, Dee Lupton (Hiram), Sean Yates (DoriJo), Shannon Casey (Tammie), and Scott Casey (Stefanie). She also leaves behind her great-grandchildren, Buddy Yates, Cheyenne Lupton, Jordyn Lockett, Bubba Lockett, Allison Casey; and many many foster children.

The Goodwin Family offers heartfelt thanks to Pamlico County Hospice, especially Linda Pence, Jane, Catherine, and Jabria, for their love, support and care of Ms. Jennett.
