Marjorie was born on May 17, 1927, in Camaguey, Cuba the daughter of a successful British father and American mother who were living there. They enjoyed a great life in Cuba until the Batista takeover in 1935. The family sought refuge in America, living in Orlando, Florida before settling in Takoma Park, Maryland. Marjorie attended high school at the Forest Lake Academy in Orlando, Florida and graduated from the Washington Missionary College, Takoma Park, Maryland. She enjoyed her career at the U.S. Navy Ordinance Laboratory in White Oak, Maryland until she followed her husband, who moved to Blacksburg, Virginia to teach at Virginia Tech.

Marjorie will be remembered as a beautiful and kind-spirited woman who made friends easily. Following her move from Florida to New Bern in 2004 to be closer to family, she so enjoyed the luncheons with her wonderful friends in the Greenbrier Backwoods and fun times spent with family. She had a great love of golfing with her one true love; gardening, including her beautiful roses; feeding the many birds in her garden; sewing; baking her delicious apple pies; and creating a beautiful home. She will be greatly missed by her adoring husband, children and her many friends.

The family will receive friends at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 3, 2013, at Cotten Funeral Home, followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Greenleaf Memorial Park.
