Oscar Lee Armstrong

CHESTERFIELD, Va. | Oscar Lee Armstrong, 67, formerly of Pamlico County, passed away on June 28th, 2014, at his home in Chesterfield Va.
Oscar was born October 26, 1946, in Maribel were he was raised and lived most of his adult life. He was a Vietnam Veteran and retired commercial fisherman. He was a graduate of Pamlico County High School and Craven Community College with a degree in mechanics.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Gracie Armstrong and one brother, Roy Armstrong.
He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Annette Jones Armstrong of the home; one son, Bradford "Brad" Armstrong of Chesterfield, Va.; two grandchildren who were the light of his life, grandson Matthew Armstrong of Vanceboro and granddaughter Kaylea Armstrong of Chesterfield, Va.: his brothers, Horace, Randy and Danny Armstrong of Irvington, Alabama; his sisters, Dorothy (Stanley) Nolan and Jane (Kevin) Clary of Irvington, Alabama.
Oscar will be remembered by his grandchildren, nieces and nephews as a loving Pop and uncle who spoiled them with candy anytime they visited. He always had candy, snacks and something interesting to show and talk to them about on stand by in case he received a visit. He also enjoyed cooking, working in his yard and for many years, he had a green thumb and he raised a beautiful garden. It made him happy to share all his home grown vegetables with family and friends.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, July 3, at 11 a.m. Celestial Gardens Cash Corner with Steve Willis officiating. He will receive military honors.
Family will receive guest at 7795 Hwy 55 East, New Bern (Reelsboro) NC at the home of Katie Armstrong.
