Richard Sheldon Gandy Sr.

HAVELOCK - Master Gunnery Sgt. Richard Sheldon Gandy Sr., USMC Ret., 88, passed away Saturday 14 Dec 2013, surrounded by his family at home. A native of Lancaster, PA, Dick was a proud American who faithfully served his country as a member of the US Marine Corps, having retired after 30+ years in July, 1977. Dick was a loving husband, and father who enjoyed being with family and friends.

Funeral services will be 1800, (6PM), Wednesday, 18 Dec 2013 at Pollock-Best Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain Jim Marshburn officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. Interment, with full USMC Honors, will be 1000, (10AM), Thursday, 19 Dec 2013, at Coastal Carolina State Veterans Cemetery, in Jacksonville, NC. Dick is survived by his wife of 60+ years, Vivian Robertson Gandy; daughter, Sharon Kay Gandy; and son, Richard S. "Rick" Gandy, Jr., all of Havelock, NC. He also leaves behind his dear grandson, Bryan C. Wayne, of New Bern, NC; and his fellow Marines.
