Richard Smith Sr.

BEAUFORT - Richard Smith Sr., 67, of 1025 Merrimon Road, North River Community,

died on Friday, Nov. 23, 2012, at his residence.

He was a lifetime member of Mt. Tabor MB Church where he had served as a youth usher and in the "Army of Men" men's group. He was employed for 28 years as a commercial fisherman and for 10 years with the Morehead City State Port.

He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Brenda Reels Smith of the home; his mother, Caretta Smith of Beaufort; his children, Jacqueline Bobbit of Raleigh, Sharon Scott of Roslyn, Pa., Sherman Reed, Valaria Smith, and Richard Smith Jr. of the home and Jeannette Taylor of the North River Community; 10 grandchildren; four brothers, Clifton Smith, Primrose Smith and John Smith, all of the North River Community and Ozell Smith of Beaufort; and one sister, Dorlena Reels of Beaufort.

His funeral will be held 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 30, 2012, at Mt. Tabor MB Church with the Rev. Hubert Judon, pastor, officiating. Interment will immediately follow the service in the

Mt. Tabor Church Cemetery. Viewing will be held on Friday, Nov. 30, 2012, at the church one hour prior to the service. The family will be receiving their friends and guest at the residence.
