NEW BERN | Robert Wayne Emory Sr., 73, of New Bern, passed away on Tuesday, June 3, 2014, at his home surrounded by his family. He loved the Lord, never met a stranger, and always had a kind word for everyone he met. In his spare time, he loved to fish.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Randolph and Mildred Emory; infant daughter, Kimberly Michelle Emory; grandsons, Shawn Hall and Justin Lovel; and sister, Mildred Elizabeth Emory Mrak.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday, June 6, 2014 at Pleasant Acres Free Will Baptist Church with Pastor Scott Coghill officiating. Burial will follow at Greenleaf Memorial Park.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Brenda Emory of the home; his son, Robert Emory II (Jamie) of Jacksonville; his daughters, Deborah Lewis (boyfriend, Michael) of Pamlico County, Lisa Emory Shelton (Gary) of New Bern, and Tami Jones (Lewis) of Comfort; his stepson, Frankie Hall (Vicki) of Roper; his grandchildren, Amber, Megan, Chrisi, Sami, Eric, Kim, Sarah, Crystal, Derek, Michael, J.B., Amelia, and Annie; and great grandchildren, Joseph, Sylvia, Avery, JoJo, Michael, Summer, Tristin, Caden, Chase, Liam, and Eli (who will be arriving soon). He also leaves behind a special four-legged friend, Max, whom he loved dearly.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to Pleasant Acres F.W.B. Church, 2911 Old Cherry Point Road, New Bern, NC 28560. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the caregivers of Craven Co. Hospice, especially to his nurse, Claudia and to Chaplain, Angel. The family also appreciates the special care provided to him by his physicians, Dr. Craig Zavelo and Dr. Rick Gorman.
