William H. Vogelsang

TRENT WOODS – William H. Vogelsang died on Thursday, December 5, 2013, at his residence. He was 91 years old. He attended Christ Episcopal Church and was the retired Senior Vice President of Froehling and Robertson, Inc. headquartered in Richmond, VA.

Mr. Vogelsang was a registered engineering geologist and was a graduate of the University of North Carolina. He was a wounded Marine Corp Veteran and an Iwo Jima survivor. He was serving on the staff of the fifth felt flag at the end of World War II.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Martha E. Ipock Vogelsang and by his second wife, Maud Smith Vogelsang. He is survived by three children by his first marriage, Fred Vogelsang of Ernul, Dr. Georgia Vogelsang of Baltimore, MD, and Anita V. Wilhelm of Trent Woods.

Burial, with military honors, will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, December 11, at Cedar Grove Cemetery Extension with a memorial service to follow at 2 p.m. at Christ Episcopal Church.
