Born in New Rochelle, NY, she was the daughter of the late John M. Lyon Sr. and Clara Springer Lyon. She was predeceased by her husband, Frank S. Powers; sister, Clare-Marie Strattner; and brother, John (Jack) Lyon Jr.
She is survived by her son, Jonathan (Jon) Goodell; daughter, Louise Van Glahn; son-in-law, Chris Van Glahn; other dear family and friends, and Molly the rescue dog.
Jean was a graduate of Katharine Gibbs School in New York City. Prior to relocating to Land O' Lakes in 1999, she lived in New Bern, N.C., where she and Frank moved in 1986 to enjoy retirement. She was an amazing mom, who was greatly loved and will be immensely missed by all who knew her.
A memorial mass will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, February 22, 2014, at Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church in Land O' Lakes, Fla.
